that critical race theory is just classroom discussion of race and racism as the new york times called it. but parents know better. they can play word games and haggle over the definition but we know racism, no matter what costume it wears. but as they run for the hills, and run away from critical race theory, expect them to yell something familiar back over their shoulder best incapsulated in a tweet from congresswoman rasheda tlaib who said opposition to critical race theory is obviously rooted in racism. and has just become the newest dog whistle for racists. of course. joining me now johnson the host of the informed dissent podcast. i m glad to have you on the program tonight. you are insightful thinker, i love following your work on twitter and publications on your podcast as well. there is no doubt there are disparities and outcome in our country informs burglar and white americans. can that be counted for and solved by yelling racism and tearing down the foundation of
gillian: georgia s education board is approving a resolution to limit the push for critical race theory in classrooms. the measure was approved 11-2. education leaders are also asserting the state of georgia and the country as a whole is not racist and that classroom discussion is related to race. they believe the discussions should be kept to a minimum related to race. the resolution is symbolic but doesn t impose actual restrictions on schools or teachers. bill, this issue as we discussed yesterday kind of like heating up the country. parents with school kids now. a lot of the heat is focused in a couple of counties in virginia just outside d.c. loudon and fair fox county because the voting demographics have changed and school boards changed over the last few years. bill: my sense we ve been reporting that the parents started pushing back on this and parents are winning, would you agree?
after you spent not too long on the campus, there were plenty of students who suspected she was some sort of russian agent. she didn t hide this very well. not at all. so you mentioned the phone case. she also was a frequenter of russia house, a restaurant here in washington that a lot of russian diplomats like where she was a big fan of stereotypical but true, vak achlvodka. she liked horseradished infused vodka. i want to try that, by the way. that actually made me interested in that vodka. anyway. she also defended russian policy in classroom discussions. she defended russia s invasion of crimea. in a classroom discussion about the interference in the 2016 election, she talked about how a lot of countries do that kind of thing. there were some suspicions, especially because there s been
theoretical classroom discussion. of course there was a checklist, a protocol but we d never done it. so we had one chance to get right something we d never anticipated, never specifically trained for and being in the open ocean would be a much more challenging situation. but over water in general, it s feature lester rain where depth perception is inherently difficult. you re descending without engine thrust much steeper and rapidly than for a normal approach to a landing where you have thrust to make a more gradual approach. it would be a very challenging thing to do. but it s theoretically possible. theoretically possible. let s remember. it is called the miracle on the hudson. what he did was essentially miraculous but is this even reasonable for them? i even wonder about the damage of putting out a theory like this. i had been talking about that theory with that same interview with sully that i felt that it was as well because the fact that the only thing we knew we had at the
that door and then we had three bodies none of that points to anything but a successful ditching but as evidence comes in which is typical of any investigation, the riddles unfold and you get these answers. now to me it s far less likely than i thought it was. and les you saw the pictures there of the miracle on the hudson. the water on the hudson river was pretty flat. a lot different than theoretically in the java sea. what kind of things do you train for as a pilot? how much do you train for these types of situation s?s? like captain sullenberger said it s such an unlikely event. we read about it and have classroom discussion about it. part of that would involve landing parallel toll the wave ss it takes a lot of talent to make it work out successfully. there s been a lot there has been successful ditchings over airplanes but you know it s certainly a plausible scenario
