Mini Simmons has shared their new single Push And Pull .
The band s preening 70s influenced stance conjures visions of some iconic artists, with their glitter-strewn moves nodding towards T-Rex or Bowie.
There s a slice of The Kinks witty lyricism in here, too, combined with a very 21st century outlook.
New single Push And Pull finds the Makaurau based band grappling with their own identity, a neat, clipped piece of guitar pop with that repeated line:
“Tip it off, and start again.” I wrote the bones of the song well over a year ago and was initially alluding to falling for a girl who wasn’t interested in me, while at the same time trying to let down another who I wasn’t so keen on, says singer Zak Hawkins.
Garbage have shared their new single No Gods No Masters - tune in now.
The trans-Atlantic rock icons return this summer, with new album No Gods No Masters landing on June 11th.
The title track is online now, a crunching piece of electronic-soaked guitar music that finds Garbage continually to challenge themselves.
Visceral and blood-thirsty, the song allows Garbage to hit peak velocity, and it seemingly taps into the energy of those initial writing sessions back in 2018.
Shirley Manson says. I tried to make sense of the world. I was trying to make sense of left and right, literally. Like why do some people vote right? Why do some people vote left? And all of that comes from a concern for ourselves, for our friends, for our families, ultimately, for our babies… this song is about re-imagining our society for the future, for our children and not making the same mistakes over and over again and allowing greed to corrupt our thinking.
Anita Lane.
The two met when barely out of their teens, with Anita Lane becoming a key force in Nick Cave s first group The Birthday Party.
A hugely potent creative force, she wrote a number of the group s most loved songs, before contributing to the first iteration of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Her solo work with Mute remains dearly loved, and the label is planning to re-issue her catalogue on vinyl later this year.
Sadly,
news of her death was confirmed yesterday (April 28th), with a host of friends and collaborators paying their respects.

Jess Cornelius is always changing into something else, something new.
An artist in motion, she moved from her native New Zealand to Australia, before lettering soaking up West Coast elements in the United States.
Her work as Teeth & Tongue earned widespread acclaim, growing from a solo project into a full band.
Last year s solo album saw Jess strip her sound right down, and it gains a full UK release on May 14th.
The innovation isn t over, however, with the songwriter deciding to reimagine her album cut Body Memory .
The newly re-drafted Body Memory (Peach Fuzz Version) is a dreamy, somnambulist cut, something that emerged from her own whims, and explorative urges.
Anitta has got flair.
The Brazilian icon speaks her mind - whether that s fashion, art, or politics - and she s ready to make power move.
Branching out across boundaries both cultural and environmental, she scored a hit in Italian last year, and spent the pandemic campaigning in her native Brazil.
Anitta s first multilingual album - English, Spanish, and Portuguese - is slated to land later this year, and her new single Girl From Rio is out tomorrow (April 30th).
If Spring isn t quite amplifying your positive energy then Anitta certainly will - it s a straight up banger, a frisky sunshine mover that plats it for kicks.
