CHARDON, Ohio Last Thursday, deputies from the Geauga County Sheriff s Office arrested two men believed to be responsible for explosions over the last few months in Hambden and Claridon Townships.
Since Oct. 2, the Geauga County Sheriff s Office has documented 25 instances of reported explosions in the two townships with a total of 56 residents reporting them to the sheriff s office. Some of the residents reported that the explosions shook their homes.
Deputies arrested 24-year-old Mitchell Zimmer from Hambden Township and charged the man with Possession of Methamphetamine, a Felony 5; Having Weapons While Under Disability, a Felony 3; and Unlawful Possession of a Dangerous Ordinance, a Felony 5.

MIDDLEFIELD David D. Byler, 46, of Middlefield, died of natural causes, Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
He was born March 13, 1974, in Claridon Township, the son of Dan JS and Sheila Gingerich Byler.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Survivors include his parents, Dan and Sheila; sister, Esther Miller; and maternal grandmother, Alma Gingerich.
David was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and a maternal grandfather.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at 6667 Burton Windsor Road, Windsor, where calling hours will be anytime until the time of service.
Interment will be in Nauvoo Road Cemetery, Middlefield Township.
