Playing from the lower bracket may take a longer route to the MPL Philippines Season 7 championship, but Execration, Work Auster Force, Onic PH and Nexplay Esports are all eager to spark a Cinderella run.
However, two of them will have their title bids snapped out right in the first round of the playoffs.
League veterans Execration and Onic will face each other in a rematch of last season’s battle for third place while young guns Work and NXP fight for tournament life.

Even before the Regular Season started, coach Laurenz “Lift” Ruiz’s Work has been tagged as a strong contender especially with its flawless performance during the qualifiers. Work Auster Force went to Clarense “Kousei” Camilo to pull off a 2-0 sweep over Cignal Ultra and arrest its losing skid in the MPL Philippines Season 7 on Friday night, April 23.
Kousei on his Esmeralda secured a crucial pickoff to hand Work a hard-earned win in the series opener then came up with sneaky plays on his Benedetta to give his teammates a lot of space to farm and take objectives for an easy victory in the second game.
With the sweep, Work ended its two-game slump and solidified its hold of No. 2 in Group A with 13 points on a 4-3 series win-loss slate, behind leading Aura PH with 14 markers.

Work Auster Force has not stepped into the MPL Philippines Season 7 arena yet but expectations are already soaring high for this rookie in the big league.
Well, that wasn’t surprising especially with reigning MPL king and world champion Bren Esports paying respect to this team.
Two-time world title winning coach Francis “Duckeyyy” Glindro confidently picked Work to qualify for Season 7 and join them in Moonton’s professional league.
And Work did not let Duckeyyy down as it utterly crushed the opposition in the Main Qualifiers held back in January.
Marksman/assassin Daniel “Chuuu” Chu and the crew never dropped a single game in three upper bracket series, taking 2-0 sweep over Laus Playbook Esports, Season 1 champion team Aether Main and Season 3 winning organization ArkAngel in the winners’ finals.
