EAST HAMPTON - As part of its ongoing commitment to protect the health of Lake Pocotopaug, the town is enlisting a corps of volunteers to monitor the lake.
Jeremy Hall, the town’s director of parks and recreation and the liaison to the Conservation Lake Commission, said the town and received a $1,500 grant from the Rockfall Foundation that will be used to establish the civilian monitoring program.
Specifically, the grant will fund the training and equipping of volunteers who will use a Secchi disk to monitor the clarity of the lake water.
