How in the Beginning Was the Word Explains the True Nature of God

6 May John 1:1 in my opinion is the most important verse in the entire gospel of John. When you understand what John 1:1 means you will see that it shapes the lens by which you must look at Jesus throughout the rest of the book. One of the most important truths about who Jesus is and the character and nature of God appear in these few words. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). This one verse establishes the Word as being both divine and eternal in nature. Everything you read after this must be filtered through this reality that the Word was God. Take every action, every miracle, every teaching, and everything Jesus does and view it with this truth and you will understand why John 1:1 means so much.

This is not a license to tempt God, live in sin, and then call on his mercy. If that is your mindset, the promise of this verse does not apply to you. If your hea

4 May One of my favorite verses in the entire Bible is Ephesians 2:10. My wife and I run the special needs ministry at our church and this verse is our theme verse. I especially love the way it reads in the New Living Translation. I want to take a moment to break this verse down for you. There are some wonderful truths in here that when the light bulb goes off and you truly understand them, they can totally transform who you are and how you see yourself. When I think of the word masterpiece, the first thought that comes to mind is a work of extreme excellence. When you look this word up, here is the definition.

What Does the Bible Really Tell Us about Angels?

Clarence L. Haynes Jr. Contributing Writer 2021 30 Apr Because my name is Clarence when I meet people for the first time, they often remind me of the movie It’s A Wonderful Life. In that movie there was an angel named Clarence and one of the classic lines from the movie was “Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings.” This is one of those movies that warms the heart, especially during the holiday season. However, I want to turn your attention from Hollywood to the Scriptures so we can discover what does the Bible really tells us about angels.
