Hatixhe Halite filed a police report after a man took $500 from her with a promise to fix her roof, but never showed up to work.
The officers who met with the 70-year-old woman couldn’t stop thinking about her situation, so they found a way to help. First, one officer patched Halite’s roof to keep the rain out ahead of some recent storms, then another found the Clarence E. Smith Roofing Company, which volunteered to provide supplies and labor to put on a new roof.
