Five fires in the span of four days is extremely rare for the Elgin Fire Department. That two should also result in people dying is almost unprecedented.
Victim identified in Elgin Christmas Day fire

The victim of a Christmas Day townhouse fire in Elgin has been identified as 73-year-old Clarence Wilson Jr.
Wilson died at his home in the 1200 block of Bradley Circle. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner s office, he was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m. Friday.
The Elgin Fire Department said the fire broke out just after 2 p.m. Neighbors told firefighters arriving on the scene that someone was in one of the four townhouse units.
Wilson s body was found as crews were searching the units.
There were no other injuries in the fire.
