Burden has until Dec. 21 to pay $15,000 in certified funds to the court clerk, before he gets to argue in January whether he was properly notified about the case.
Only in 1966 did Tulane Law School enroll its first Black student, opening doors to those who had long been denied access to legal education. Eighteen years later, Karen Wells and Clarence Roby Jr. were the first in their families to enter law school, becoming some of the early Black practitioners in New Orleans’ legal community when they graduated in 1987.
