Mayor Adams’ latest financial disclosure reveals he still co-owns a one-bedroom Brooklyn apartment that he claimed during the 2021 campaign to have gifted to a “good friend” adding more intrigue to questions swirling around his real estate holdings.
The mayor’s latest tax returns show he did not claim income on his cookbook, Healthy at Last, which he published in Oct. 2020 even though separate forms he filed with COIB for 2021 indicate he claimed between $5,000 and $50,000 worth of income off a book advance. On his previous annual disclosure report, for 2020, Adams claimed the same income range for the same book, also labeled as a “book advance.”
A six-page form on file with the city’s Conflicts of Interest Board reveals that in 2021, the mayor still owned 50 percent of a one-bedroom co-op on Prospect Place in Brooklyn that he bought decades ago.
