The Danville Police Department announced yesterday the promotion of 19 officers that will be effective January 1, 2021. Â
Chief Scott Booth promoted officers to the ranks of captain, lieutenant, sergeant and corporal in a ceremony held in the auditorium at the O. Trent Bonner Middle School. The department followed COVID protocols and used Zoom in order for family and friends to watch the ceremony. Â
During his remarks, Chief Booth reminded the new supervisors, âYou are leaders in the department and the community; leaders make decisions, they treat people with compassion and show people dignity and respect.âÂ
These promotions were due to the retirement of several senior members of the department over the course of this year. Â
