(TNN) - FISTA Development Trust Authority officials announced that companies housed in the mall have made their first hires Tuesday at the Lawton City Council meeting. Jared Mulhausen is an Eisenhower High School graduate who accepted a position with Dynetics, a national defense contractor, in February after graduating from the University of Oklahoma. “Whenever you have an opportunity that aligns with your career interests,” Mulhausen said, “and you can come back. You don’t have to move to Seattle or San Francisco or Austin or Chicago and the jobs are here, it’s always a benefit.”

(TNN) - The Lawton City Council will be holding their regular meeting Tuesday at 2 p.m. On the agenda for this week’s meeting is a briefing from FISTA Authority Chairman, Clarence Fortney, for information on the Industrial Development mission, and the Retail mission of the Authority. The Council will also be considering convening in executive sessions on four items, including continued talks between the city and police union about their Collective Bargaining Agreement. In an effort to alleviate some of those long waits, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has signed an executive order addressing several issues involving the processes to get licenses renewed, or take drivers license tests.

(TNN) - In a special meeting today, Lawton City Council finalized the purchase of Central Mall and voted to approve a 25-year lease agreement between the city and the FISTA Development Trust Authority. Last October, Lawton city council decided to buy the entire mall and use empty stores to create a complex to house military defense contractors who work on Fort Sill, and with the two U-S Army Cross Functional teams there.
