A DETERMINED group of Kendalian adults and kids are battling once again through 30 days of gruelling exercise to raise cash in honour of a local teenager. #TeamElla is completing 30 minutes of exercise every day for the whole of January to raise money for Ella Dixon’s Muscular Dystrophy UK fund, which has so far raised more than £65,000 in just a few years. The fund was created by Clare and Craig Dixon from Kendal, after daughter Ella, 15, was diagnosed as a manifesting carrier of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a serious condition which causes the muscles to weaken. Ella is one of only a few girls to have the condition, which usually affects boys, in the UK.
