Clare s Texas debut

Collon born singer and former St Oliver’s CC student, Clare Cunningham, got the thrill of her life last week - starring on the main stage at the legendary Trees Dallas venue in Texas. Others to perform there in the past include Alanis Morrissete, Rage against the machine, Snoop Dog, Radiohead, vanilla ICE and Kurt Cobain! Based in Nashville, she was part of a show in Dallas for the first time. ‘Knowing that I was standing in a spot where some of my life long idols had once stood made the show all that more special! Personally when I heard that Alanis Morissette sold out her first show there I was moved because she was my very first cassette tape and I’d looked up to her since I was 8 years old!,’ Clare stated.

AV The Great Responds to Domestic Terrorists

Denton rapper AV The Great took to the studio to give his thoughts on the insurrection at the Capitol building last week. The single “Jan 6th, 2021” captures the artist’s stunned disbelief at what unfolded and notes the utter hypocrisy of the domestic terrorists’ actions with lyrics such as: “Kaepernick just took a knee.” Is your New Year’s resolution to learn the guitar? If so, here is your chance to get lessons from Dallas’ finest musicians. Jess Garland is adding seven new music classes that begin in February. These additional classes are presented by the South Dallas Cultural Center and include beginner guitar, intermediate/advanced guitar, songwriting and voice. Classes will be taught by Garland and other local musicians such as Emsy Robinson Jr., Kierra Gray, Kate Fisher and Lala J. Those interested are encouraged to sign up through Garland’s nonprofit Swan Strings.

Richard Callander column for Racenet on December 29

2:55PM29 December 2020 Two plus two generally equals four, but it doesn t seem to when you look at the history of jockey betting bans. SOMETHING DOESN’T ADD UP Ben Melham was disqualified for five months for betting offences and giving false evidence, Damien Oliver was outed for eight months for backing a rival horse while Adam Hyeronimus was thrown out for three years for betting offences and providing false evidence. His appeal will be handed down in the new year. I was only fair at mathematics but the numbers don’t seem to add up to me. I realise each case is different but it’s a case of either two of the sentences are ridiculously light or one is very harsh or a mixture of both.

Randwick analysis from Villiers Stakes day December 12

The Group 2 Villiers Stakes trophy stayed with Mark Newnham after the local conditioner combined with Rachel King for successive wins in the summer feature mile. Greysful Glamour was too quick for them in controlling the race from start to finish to hold out the Godolphin duo Best Of Days and Criaderas and give Newnham and King another win after being successful with Quackerjack in 2019. The good track was played very fast with Happy Clapper’s record in the Group 2 Villiers eclipsed while two horses went close to bettering Yes Yes Yes’ 1200m track record. The majority of winners came from on speed but overall, it was a great day of racing with some outstanding performances.
