When Adams-Ender was on the Board of Medicine in the Richmond, Virginia, area, she and her peers discussed with the Medical Reserve Corps of Virginia the need for a reserve of healthcare professionals consisting of physicians, nurses, dieticians, and other healthcare professions willing to give their time and skills during an emergency situation. The pandemic offered the opportunity to make this vision a reality.

An open international competition is being held for a new Cold War Veterans Memorial in Wisconsin, USA [Deadline: 15 June 2021]
Backed by Chicago’s Pritzker Military Museum & Library – the competition seeks ‘recognisable and memorable’ concepts for a landmark new monument which will be constructed to commemorate 30 years since the end of the Cold War.

Proposals are required to focus on a rural 116ha site in Somers, Wisconsin where a new Pritzker Archives & Memorial Park Centre – designed by Jahn Architects of Chicago and Berlin – is currently under construction.
According to the brief: ‘The new Cold War Veterans Memorial will give permanent recognition to these and other accomplishments made possible by the often-quiet sacrifices of countless Americans during nearly half a century of fighting to expand freedom and democracy.
