Mother-of-three Isabella Skelton was aged 35 when she was reported missing from her family home in Crumpsall, Manchester, in June 1969. Her family grew up under the belief she had left the city to work away but they never saw her again, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. The force said it was exhausting every potential line of inquiry . GMP said they were maintaining an open mind and said the search of her former home on Lidiard Street would take about two weeks.

Police are now investigating the crash as potentially being linked to a violent gangland feud which erupted a month later. GMP has confirmed that no action was taken against the driver of the car that burst into flames. Officers believe the car that was pursuing his vehicle before the crash may be linked to one of the organised crime groups involved in the feud. The MEN understands it was reported that a person in the pursuing car had a firearm.

Man arrested in Bury on suspicion of attempted murder after Newton Heath shooting A FIFTH man has been arrested by police officers after a warrant was executed in Bury following a drive-by shooting in Newton Heath. The man, aged 41, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a shotgun and remains in custody for questioning. A total of five men have been arrested and 13 warrants executed in Manchester, Oldham, and Bury since the firearms discharge on Briscoe Lane, Newton Heath, on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 19. Four of the men have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
