Warrington Wheelers are pedalling 500 miles for Diabetes UK

Members of a Warrington paediatrics diabetes team are in the middle of a mammoth cycling challenge – 500 miles on a bike from Lymm to John O’Groats. The Warrington Wheelers, who work for Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, are over halfway through their pedalling exploits having already completed 400 miles in the saddle. The team of five includes diabetes specialist nurses Lucy Unsworth and Claire Brookes, as well as dietician Emma Armstrong, and consultants Anil Gopalakrishna and Satish Hulikere and they are raising funds for Diabetes UK in the UK’s cycle ride virtual challenge. Claire, who is 41 and works at Warrington Hospital, said: “Young people and children living with diabetes, as well as their families, have to cope with a lot and especially over the past year.
