NEW ORLEANS - Louisiana s Black residents have gotten COVID vaccinations at higher rates than the state s White residents, closing what was a significant gap when shots were first made available
i haven t been in a crowd like that in quite sometime. should we be worried? you know, i understand everyone has pandemic fatigue and a lot of us have been trying to be so vigilant for so long, we really just want to enjoy our time, enjoy summertime, get out and see people. but i am concerned. i do think that people need to think seriously about the potential for the variants circulating right now, to have an impact on a spike in covid cases. i think they need to take it into consideration when they re traveling and continue to protect themselves. masks have been a big issue this week. there are some conflicting guidance around the delta variant. the world health organization saying this week vaccinated people should go back to wearing masks because of it, but cdc director dr. wilensky still saying if you are vaccinated it is safe to go maskless. a lot of us are scratching our heads here. dr. claiborne, what precautions should americans be taking? should we bewaring masks right now

The federal government issued a letter in 2011 saying Mississippi had done too little to provide mental health services outside mental hospitals. The Justice Department sued the state in 2016. After a 2019 trial, U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves ruled Mississippi “operates a system that unlawfully discriminates against persons with serious mental illness.”
