Another sharp jump in monthly home sales in Quinte region

/ 91X FM CJLX Mar 10, 2021 10:00 AM Quinte real estate is soaring monthly in home sales for February, compared to last year. The Quinte and District Association of Realtors reports that 289 homes were sold last month alone, a sharp 35% increase from the month of February of last year. Year-to-date home sales are also up just about 19%, with 465 homes being purchased in the first two months of this year already. The average listing or asking price of a home in the Quinte Region last month was also up sharply, at $443,400, a 34.5% jump from February 2020, with average sale prices going well above that. Roughly, $583,935 or comparatively 53.5% higher than in February of last year.

Fire at the Tweedsmuir Hotel

/ 91X FM CJLX Mar 10, 2021 8:52 AM The Tweedsmuir Hotel was engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived around 6 am this morning. The OPP say that no injuries were reported. The Fire Marshall’s office is being called in. There is no damage estimated at this time. Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Central Hastings OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 613-473-4234. Here’s the update issued by Mayor Jo-Anne Albert: Victoria Street is closed from River Street to Bridge Street West. Detour routes are setup on Bridge Street West and River Street West for those travelling through town.

Icebreakers Traversing the Bay of Quinte on Wednesday

/ 91X FM CJLX Mar 9, 2021 9:10 AM Ice user’s in the Bay of Quinte and Picton Bay area beware! On Wednesday morning, around 9 a.m. icebreakers will be coming through the Bay of Quinte to make a path for the “McKeil Spirit.’ During this time, all recreational ice user’s are being asked to stay off the ice during the day. The Mckeil Spirit will be making its way through the Bay of Quinte around 6 p.m. tomorrow. Also, it is expected that marine operations could continue on march 11th and 12th.
