Sask NDP Calling For Changes in Long-Term Care and an End to For-Profit Care in the Province

By Ryan Young Feb 2, 2021 6:21 PM Reforms in long-term care and ending for-profit care in Saskatchewan is what the Saskatchewan NDP is calling for following the disastrous impacts of COVID-19 at long-term care facilities in the province. NDP Leader Ryan Meili and Seniors Critic Matt Love made the calls on Tuesday morning while standing outside of Extendicare Parkside in Regina. Meili pointed to the “predictable and preventable” COVID-19 deaths that have been reported in for-profit long-term care during the second wave of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan. Extendicare, the only for-profit long-term care provider in Saskatchewan, has seen 43 deaths among residents from the COVID outbreak, while six residents of Extendicare Preston in Saskatoon have died.

Dauphin Woman in Court on Manslaughter Charge

By Ryan Young Jan 29, 2021 6:11 PM Another court appearance has been made by a Dauphin woman, arrested in connection with a death in that city. 43-year-old Ramona Tanner was in Dauphin yesterday (THURS) on a charge of Manslaughter, where she was remanded in custody to February 24th. On October 25th, Dauphin RCMP were called to a home on a report of an unconscious male with injuries. A 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Balcarres Area Man Charged With Weapon-Related Offences Appears in Regina Court

By Ryan Young Jan 28, 2021 7:22 PM A new court date has been set for a Balcarres district man, charged with several weapon-related offences. 21-year-old Mackenzie Desnomie appeared in Regina yesterday (WED) on numerous charges, including Assault with a Weapon and Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and he was released from custody, to appear again on April 19th. On August 7th, Regina Police were called to a report of a firearms offence. The suspect fled from police on foot, and during the pursuit he threatened an individual at a business with a firearm. He was eventually arrested, and a loaded firearm was recovered, along with a backpack containing ammunition.

New Court Date Made For Fort Qu Appelle District Man Accused of Dangerous Driving | GX94 Radio

By Ryan Young Jan 28, 2021 7:22 PM A Fort Qu’Appelle district man charged in connection with a dangerous driving incident in Regina, was back in court yesterday (WED). On December 11th, city police spotted a suspicious vehicle, and when they tried to stop it, it drove away. They eventually used a spike belt, and the vehicle finally came to a stop in a field west of the city. 29-year-old Theoren Pasqua faces numerous charges, and was remanded in custody, to appear again on February 12th.
