Alabama is well represented in the newly announced slate of NAACP Image Awards nominees: A movie telling the story of an Alabama blues pioneer is nominated in numerous categories, and a range of artists associated with the state also are in the running.
The 57th annual Image Awards will be presented March 27 on BET. Nominees announced Tuesday include:
Octavia Spencer: The Montgomery native, who earlier this year worked to help home-state healthcare workers and hospitals during the pandemic, is a nominee for Outstanding Actress in a Television Movie, Limited–Series or Dramatic Special, for her role in the Netflix project “Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker” (Netflix).
