Tous Les Jours, a bakery franchise operated by CJ Foodville, has opened its 100th store in the United States as Korean-style bread products gains popularity among American consumers, the company said Monday.
A 32-year-old office worker surnamed Kim living in Seoul recently visited VIPS, a buffet restaurant chain operated by CJ Foodville, with his friend for the first time in six years. “I recently went to VIPS because the price for using its salad bar is only a little over 30,000 won ($22.89) per person. It is pretty reasonable considering that you can have limitless food and drink. I plan to visit more often,” Kim said.
CJ Foodville, the food service subsidiary of CJ Group, has started generating profits in Indonesia and Vietnam amid growing consumer demand for Korean-style bakery products there, company officials said Wednesday.
The country s top two bakery chains Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours are competing hard to expand in the United States, according to company officials Thursday.
CJ Foodville, which operates the local bakery chain Tous Les Jours, will establish a large-scale bread factory in the United States, the company said Monday. The food firm is currently looking for a suitable site and will begin construction next year at the earliest.
