SANA’A, 3 October – After achieving the longest period of relative peace since conflict erupted in Yemen in 2015, Yemen's warring parties failed to renew a UN-led peace agreement yesterday evening, and in doing so threaten to push the country into a new spiral of violence, says Save the Children.
Landmines and unexploded ordnance have been the biggest killers of children in Yemen since a truce was announced in April, Save the Children said today.
Landmines are part of the legacy of the war in Yemen, long the Arab world's poorest country, with experts estimating that at least one million mines have been planted during the country's years of turmoil, often with tragic results.
SANA’A, 30 June, 2022 – Landmines and unexploded ordnance have been the biggest killers of children in Yemen since a truce was announced in April, Save the Children said today. The uptick in deaths from these weapons is understood to be the result of families moving to previously inaccessible.
Yemen’s warring parties must act now to renew their peace deal to avoid further robbing an entire generation of their future, children warned today as the two-month nationwide truce comes to an end on 2 June.
