AMPAC Fine Chemicals (AFC), an SK pharmteco company, is creating more than 150 new jobs and investing more than $25 million in its Petersburg, Va., site as part of a commitment to bring high-quality pharmaceutical manufacturing to the U.S.
In addition to the new jobs, AFC will expand the site’s capabilities by adding an East Coast presence for AMPAC Analytical Labs and enhanced R&D functions for continuous processing of pharmaceutical ingredients. AMPAC Analytical provides extensive development and testing services for the analysis, validation and release of intermediates and APIs

Active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) manufacturer AMPAC Fine Chemicals (AFC) is preparing to inject $25 million into its existing location in Petersburg, VA to expand production as part of its collaboration in a US government-funded partnership with Phlow Corporation, Medicines for All Institute, and non-profit drug producer Civica Inc., Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced this week.
Phlow was contracted by the US Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) to manufacture essential medications with advanced manufacturing processes from the Medicines for All Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Civica palns to invest $124.5 million to open a facility next to the AFC and Phlow operations.

The pieces of a Petersburg pharmaceuticals hub continue to fall into place.
AMPAC Fine Chemicals plans to invest $25 million and hire about 150 more employees at its Petersburg facility on North Normandy Drive to increase the pharmaceutical ingredient production capability of the plant.

On Jan. 21, Civica Rx (Civica Inc.) announced, along with Virginia s Governor Ralph Northam, its plans to build a 120,000-sq.-ft. sterile injectable manufacturing facility in Petersburg, Va., potentially creating more than 180 jobs. The new plant represents a $124.5 million investment.
Civica Rx is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization established in 2018.
