Capitol Fax com - Your Illinois News Radar » Rate the new Stand for Children Illinois TV ad

It’s a good ad, short, to the point. But they are trying to climb a pretty steep hill. The problem with the ad is that it doesn’t tell me what they want. “Putting kids first” means different things to different people. - Just a thought - Tuesday, May 4, 21 @ 10:44 am: The average citizen has no idea what this ad is talking about. We all want to put kids first, but what is the issue? Seems like a waste of money. Would have to know what the specific compromises are that are being pushed by this advocacy group to “put students first” before I would call and urge my legislator to do anything. Historically, they focus more on funding. This is a feel good ad without any real substance.

Biden s Amtrak spending backed by Chicago and Illinois business, labor and civic groups

“Chicago is the hub of the Midwest,” one signer, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce President Jack Lavin, told me in a phone interview. “If we get high-speed rail and more investment, it’s good for us.” The letter specifically endorses a “vision statement” Amtrak released after Biden included $80 billion for the passenger carrier and other railroads in his $2 trillion infrastructure plan. Also signing the letter were the Environmental Law & Policy Center and the Illinois AFL-CIO. Included on Amtrak s wish list are improvements on existing service from Chicago to St. Louis, faster speeds and decreased travel time between Chicago and the home of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, upgrades on lines to Milwaukee and Detroit, and new service to the Quad Cities and Rockford.
