FREMONT COUNTY â Earlier this month, our investigative team met with Jeff Lamborn at his Fremont County home after he spent two years trying to get his solar system installed and working.
The delayed project left him paying his normal utilities bills plus monthly loan payments for the solar system.

Sopris Solar, the first company Lamborn signed the contract with walked off the job.
Blue Sky Solar, the second company contracted to come in and finish the work, also vanished -leaving Lamborn with a solar system that was essentially useless.
Enterprise, EDF Partner for Solar Project Near Houston
EDF Renewables North America has clinched a power purchase agreement (PPA) with an affiliate of Enterprise Products Partner LP to provide solar energy for the Space City Solar Project near Houston.
Construction on the Wharton County site is expected to begin this summer and should be operable by summer 2022. The construction phase is forecast to generate about 300 jobs and more than $30 million in new tax revenue over the project’s operating life. The project is designed to use bifacial solar photovoltaic modules.
Enterprise’s Jim Teague, co-CEO of the general partner, said the pipeline giant is “committed to being a responsible steward of the environment, including using energy sustainably across our footprint.”

24 February, 2021: Chicago-based energy company Exelon’s board of directors have agreed to separate its power generation business from its utility interests, creating two publicly-listed companies.
The split, which will be structured as a tax-free spinoff, will provide each new company with the financial independence to focus on their “specific customer needs”, Exelon said in a statement last week.
As part of the deal Exelon Utilities, known as RemainCo, will become the parent company for its six electricity and natural gas utilities Atlantic City Electric, BGE, ComEd, Delmarva Power, PECO and Pepco. Exelon Generation, meanwhile, will launch SpinCo, a business that Exelon claims is the largest supplier of clean energy across the US. EDF Renewables North America today announced the Space City Solar Project is progressing with critical development milestones having signed the first tranche of 55 megawatts (MWac)/73 MWdc to BASF through a Power Purchase Agreement. The Project’s total capacity is up to 345 MWac/455 MWdc. Space City Solar, located in Wharton County, Texas, is expected to commence construction in Summer 2021 and begin delivery of clean electricity in Summer 2022.
Approximately 300 jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase, with more than $30 million generated in new tax revenue over the operating life for Wharton County taxing entities. In addition to providing stable payments to local landowners who chose to lease their land, the Louise Independent School District has the ability to receive $2.5 million in revenue, including $1.8 million in the first year of operation providing the district enacts a Chapter 313 Agreement by December 31, 2020.
