+ February 25, 2021 A DAVAO City lawmaker said there is a need to decisively address the continuous alarming high cases of early pregnancy in the city amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pamela Librado–Morata said according to the 2020 report from the Population Commission (PopCom) on February 2, Davao Region had the highest incidence of teenage pregnancy among other regions in the country. Data also showed that Davao City had the highest incidence of teenage pregnancy in the region, followed by Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte.
PopCom also disclosed that in 2018, there were 15,703 cases of teenage pregnancy reported in Davao Region, 14,000 in 2019, and 12,000 cases in 2020.

File photo January 24, 2021 AFTER some delays, the Davao City government has ordered the immediate distribution of financial assistance to qualified senior citizens in the city.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio signed Executive Order (EO) No. 1 Series of 2021 on January 20, 2021, which aims to institutionalize and effectively implement the provisions of City Ordinance No. 01Q05-19, Series of 2019.
The ordinance aimed to support senior citizens’ medicines and other expenses relative to their health and mandates the grant of an annual minimum financial assistance of P1,500.
The EO stated that beneficiaries must be 65 years old and above during the calendar year; must be a holder of a Senior Citizens Identification Card duly issued by the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (Osca) of Davao City, must be a member of a Senior Citizens Organization duly recognized by Osca and City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO); and must be listed in the mast
