Place North West | Sefton selects Lakeside contractor

Neil Tague Crossfield Construction has been appointed to deliver the £3.1m redevelopment of Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre. Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is to fund the project, which will see the creation of new hospitality and event facilities, reception areas, overnight accommodation and upgraded M&E. The centre is situated at the entrance to Crosby Coastal Park and adjacent to Anthony Gormley’s Another Place installation. Sefton Council’s cabinet last month signed off on the establishment of a wholly-owned company to manage the operation, having also approved a working capital loan of £500,000 to support its launch. The proposals designed by Imagineering Global on behalf of Sefton Council involve a new 2,200 sq ft events space to be built on hardstanding o the existing building’s west, while a further 38 bed spaces will be provided in a ‘bunkbarn’.

Wirral to share in £31 3 million boost for road repairs

Library picture of pothole WIRRAL Council is to get of share of £31.3million in Government funding earmarked for fixing roads across Merseyside. Nationally, £500 million will be given to local councils for additional highways maintenance, with the money expected to fix the equivalent of 10 million potholes across the country. It is the second instalments from the Government’s £2.5 billion Potholes Fund. Liverpool City Region Combined Authority s £31.3million share will be allocated to each of the six councils within it, of which Wirral is part. With the average pothole costing around £50 to fill in, the funding will ensure that around 600,000 potholes across Wirral and the rest of Merseyside can be tackled, making thousands of local roads both safer and easier to drive and cycle on.
