First, i will talk about my book project and the research i have done an environmental history. Then i will go into specifics about my research focusing on the intersection of food, politics, and the urban environment and 1850s new york. The book i have written is an environmental history of new york city. Many people believe that new york is the opinion me of a concrete jungle. After coming across a reference to the hog riots, i thought the idea of hogs roaming the streets of new york was amusing. The fact that they were people passionate enough to ride over them was even more so. Hidden beneath my reaction is the notion that cities are surely artificial spaces where nature does not exist. See here. The area is cordoned off and we have been watching the last 20 minutes as officers have been marking the scene. Were right in front of the safeway, and officers are trying to determine what happened to their fellow officers tonight. Around 8 30, someone from the Safeway Store off lieu welling boulevard summoned patrol officers in the parking lot about a shoplifting suspect. He was apparently carrying bottles. A female officer tried to contact him in the parking lot, and thats when he got into his car. The subject was able to start his vehicle, put it in gear, and drive away with the officer still in the doorway of the vehicle. Both officers sustained injuries from the vehicle running them over. Both officers are at the hospital right now being treated. Reporter as soon as soon as he backed up, thats when the officer got hurt. He fell on his knees. I dont know if he got run over or fell on his knees or what because he couldnt get up. Reporter again, that was two officers, a ma
