Have you heard about the cobbler that may just be Warrensburg s greatest benefactor? That s not my phrase, I found it on the Show-Me The History Johnson County and West Central Missouri page attributed to the Alex S. Nassif Perpetual Educational Fund. And it s true.
For those long time Warrensburg townies of a certain age, you probably know of the man and his story. Heck if you had to have a pair of shoes repaired at some point before 1979 there s a good chance he repaired your shoes. For the rest of us, we most likely know of him because his name is on the town s aquatic center. I got interested in learning a little more about Mr. Nassif after reading the blurb on the Warrensburg Parks & Recreation webpage:

Update: The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement this morning, Monday March 8, warning of very high to critical fire danger today . Their statement goes on to say:
Dry conditions are expected again today with dew points near 30 degrees. With temperatures warming into the lower 70s, relative humidity values are expected to fall to 20-25 percent this afternoon. South to southwest winds of 15-20 mph gusting to 20-25 mph are expected from late morning through sunset. While winds are expected to be slightly less today, any fires that develop would likely spread rapidly, thus outdoor burning is once again strongly
Sedalia Police Reports For December 28, 2020

Sunday evening, Sedalia Police performed a traffic stop on a green Ford SUV, as the license plate was expired. The traffic stop took place in the area of West 12th Street and South Osage Avenue. Officers spoke to the driver, and then performed a computer check through Dispatch, where it was learned that he had a felony probation violation warrant from Johnson County on original charges of Tampering With A Motor Vehicle. Tony L. Lawson, 44, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail with a $15,000 cash only bond.
