St. Albans Building & Zoning Department recently released renderings of potential uses for the former St. Albans Junior High School property. The Thrasher Group of Bridgeport, West Virginia shared renderings that included conceptual plans for both single-family home concepts and townhomes. The city retained St. Albans engineering firm Chapman Technical Group, which submitted renderings showing plans for a potential green space park. The city wants to include St. Albans citizens in the decision-making process and is forming an exploratory committee, which will have two citizen members. St. Albans residents interested in being on the committee should attend the next city council meeting scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 4 at the St. Albans Fire Department at 51 6th Avenue.
Bridge to Hope Academy will be a microschool serving ninth through 12th graders who are in recovery from substance use disorder and experiencing other mental health issues. It will be located in St. Albans at Community Bridge, a nonprofit outreach organization that is providing room in its building to house the school free of charge.
