CENTER POINT The city of Center Point approved a feasibility study on establishing its own police department.
The vote to approve the study took place during a council meeting on Feb. 3, 2021. As promised by several council members during their 2020 campaign, the city will take a close look at the cost of establishing a police force and the impact it could have on the city’s finances.
The Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama (PARCA) will conduct the study.
“Phase I will provide an estimated cost and annual cost to maintain a police force for the City of Center Point,” said Councilor Tiffany Moore in a newsletter. “Phase I will allow the City to determine if a police department is plausible for the City and if the City wants to continue with the study.”
