The other. we will leave the debate for the time being and turn to ukraine. for the third day in a row, the deadline set by russia for the ukrainian fighters in mariupol to surrender has come and gone. a small convoy of civilians did manage to leave the beseiged city today, but still there are around 100,000 civilians trapped in the city. president zelensky says the situation in mariupol is getting worse day by day with hundreds of injured women and children needing urgent care. russia s military says it now controls almost all areas of the city those areas in red except for the azovstal steel plant. that s where the last defiant ukrainian troops are holed out. president zelensky says there are around 1,000 civilians, mostly women and children also there, sheltering in nuclear bunkers beneath the plant, sheltering from the relentless bombardment.
