EL CAJON  El Cajon continues to help small businesses that have been facing difficulties in the COVID-19 era. The City Council on Tuesday approved a new Business Assistance Plan that will pay the cost of business licenses in 2021 for all businesses based in El Cajon. Any business that has already paid its license fees for this year will receive a credit for next year. Including home-based businesses and commercial enterprises, there are between 500 and 1,000 businesses in the city, El Cajon officials said. They expect to dole out about $225,000 to pay for the licenses. The city is also launching a Business Grant Program beginning Monday, May 3, that will allot up to $15,000 to businesses hiring new employees.
