Valley News - Lebanon City Council punts on hearing to discuss mask mandate

Lebanon City Council punts on hearing to discuss mask mandate Modified: 5/6/2021 7:17:56 PM LEBANON The City Council on Wednesday postponed a decision on whether to schedule a public hearing to rescind Lebanon’s mask mandate, instead opting to continue the discussion later this month. Councilors debated the city administration’s proposal to end the mandate on June 30, when officials estimate all residents 16 and over will have had the opportunity to be fully vaccinated. However, after about 30 minutes, they decided to talk further during their May 19 meeting, according to City Manager Shaun Mulholland. “What they are looking to do is set some sort of standard, and they will discuss that on the 19th, and that will inform people if we have a public hearing in June,” he said in a phone interview Thursday.

Declining cases and deaths have town officials reconsidering mask policies

Declining cases and deaths have town officials reconsidering mask policies Gov. Chris Sununu wears a protective mask at a polling station in Windham on Nov. 3. AP Published: 5/5/2021 2:43:05 PM The city of Claremont last week dropped a mask advisory and a decision to end mask mandates in Lebanon and Enfield could hinge on how well New Hampshire performs against the coronavirus pandemic this month, municipal officials said Tuesday. If COVID-19 cases continue to fall throughout May and more people choose to get vaccinated, they said, both communities will likely rescind their mask ordinances in June. However, officials in Lebanon and Enfield are resisting calls to act earlier, saying they don’t want to do away with protections before people have the opportunity to become fully vaccinated.

Valley News - Upper Valley officials send infrastructure earmark wish lists to NH, Vt. lawmakers

Upper Valley officials send infrastructure earmark wish lists to NH, Vt. lawmakers Modified: 4/15/2021 7:55:40 PM WEST LEBANON Upper Valley officials are hopeful that the return of earmarks pet projects meant to buttress lawmakers’ support for federal spending bills will help pay for local infrastructure projects that might otherwise sit on the back burner for years. New sidewalks in Lebanon, a multi-use path in Hanover and repairs to Claremont City Hall’s copper dome are just some of the funding requests submitted to the Twin State congressional delegations since the House revoked its decade-long ban on earmarks earlier this year. Municipal managers say the new federal aid would save property taxpayers from costly bonds while advancing community goals.
