Dave Tenney in the coming weeks or months depending upon when the city gets around to finally approving the updated general plan will be vindicated.
Tenney is the longtime Manteca businessman that former City Manager Miranda Lutzow blamed for defeating Measure Z, the one cent general sales tax increase Manteca voters rejected in November.
Lutzow went as far as openly criticizing Tenney, who owns Manteca Trailer & RV, for contending he had no skin in the game based on her contention Tenney did not reside within the city limits.

Manteca was on pace to burn through $149.6 million of reserves and fund balances before City Manager Miranda Lutzow upon being given the first insight of how dysfunctional the city’s finances were put the brakes on municipal spending.
The cuts last year to operational and capital requests imposed by Lutzow avoided the citywide fund balance of $168.6 million dropping to below $19 million or a reduction of 89 percent instead of the $95.4 million drop or 43 percent cut now projected for June 30.

Before folks start boiling the tar and collecting bird feathers they might want to begrudgingly give thanks to Manteca Mayor Ben Cantu when they throw him under the proverbial bus.
His decades-old Don Quixote treatment by the old guard that once inhabited city hall and city politics is now proven to have been misplaced. And even though he may not have gotten the exact causes of perennial municipal funding issues and the inability to secure amenities precisely right, he was pretty darn close.
