City moves forward with potential sale of Ram Site

The city of Kodiak has started the process of potentially selling a plot of land adjacent to Fort Abercrombie State Historical Park to the state of Alaska.  The Kodiak City Council adopted a resolution last week to move forward with an application for funds necessary to sell a 77.55-acre parcel to the state. The land stretches from Abercrombie Drive to Otmeloi Way on both sides of Monashka Road. The site includes a subunit north of Monashka Bay Road known locally as the Ram Site.  The land — currently valued at $3.7 million, according to the Kodiak Island Borough website — was issued to the city by the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management in 1962.
