The city of Perham plans to select an document with plans to improve Perham parks throughout the next six to eight months, such as doing inventory on spaces the city has available and ways to survey the community in order to discover what they do and don't want from parks and recreational spots.
There are five different boards and commissions in Perham that have current openings for new members: The Economic Development Authority, Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Planning Commission, Park and Recreation Board, and Airport Commission.
The proposed increase, which is not yet final, would add about $90 to the average Perham homeowner's yearly tax bill (for a property worth $138,000). City Manager Jonathan Smith said the increase is due to a recent law change that affected the city's tax capacity, coupled with rising expenses for city services and staff.
