Worcester sees drop in new COVID cases, reporting 203 infections since last Friday

By comparison, there were 313 new virus cases reported by the city last week.
So far through the pandemic, Worcester has seen 23,302 virus cases and 421 resident deaths, according to a news release from the office of City Manager Edward Augustus Jr. The city has moved away from weekly live press conferences on Thursdays and is now issuing COVID-19 updates via press release on Fridays.
Saint Vincent Hospital and UMass Memorial Health are treating 49 inpatients for the virus, a decrease of 15 from last week. Seventeen of those patients are in the intensive care unit, five fewer since Tuesday. The health care systems combined have had 720 COVID-related deaths, which is an increase of two since Tuesday, according to the city.
