STREATOR – Streator’s City Council approved of a collective bargaining agreement with the International Association of Firefighters and Streator Firefighters Local 56 on Wednesday. According to City Manager David Plyman, the new agreement provides for a 2.5% wage increase for covered personnel and eliminated wage disparity between firefighters. As part of the agreement, long-standing staffing issues will continue to be discussed through regular labor-management meetings. The collective bargaining agreement includes all Streator firefighters with the exception of the fire chief.

STREATOR – The city of Streator is considering joining The North Central Illinois Economic Development Corporation. President and CEO of NCIEDC, Mike Kirchhoff was introduced to the committee members at Tuesday afternoon’s committee of the whole meeting after recommendations by City Manager David Plyman to join the corporation. Plyman believes participating in conjunction with NCIEDC, Livingston County Economic Development Council and Starved Rock County Alliance would offer a well-rounded development program for the city. Mayor Lansford says he would like the be associated with all three groups and will take the proposal under advisement. Streator’s membership fee with NCIEDC would be just over $17,000 annually.
