PLANNED CONSTRUCTION DETOUR WILL REQUIRE…A DETOUR

By Kevin Zimmermann May 25, 2021 | 6:49 AM North 9th Street in Sheboygan is going to be busier than expected as work has begun on a major project to renovate Geele Avenue between North 3rd Street and Calumet Drive.   Geele is now closed to through traffic with access to residents and businesses via the cross-street intersections except for two, North 8th and 15th Streets, which are shut completely.  But one of the planned detours has hit a snag due to emergency sanitary sewer repairs according to City Engineer Kevin Jump.  The detour for North 8th Street traffic will now be routed onto Superior Avenue, North 9th Street, and North Avenue, two blocks further west than originally planned.  The North 15th Street detour is unaffected using Calumet Drive and North Avenue.

By Kevin Zimmermann Apr 27, 2021 6:43 AM The resurfacing and improving of streets in Sheboygan is increasing with the temperatures, as notice of two more projects went out on Monday from City Engineer Kevin Jump. Superior Avenue, which received much attention last year near Taylor Drive, will again require occasional closures further east as a new asphalt surface is applied between North 17th and 22nd Streets.  The first closure begins tomorrow for removal of existing pavement and will take two days.  Placement of the new asphalt will require a future road closure still to be scheduled.  A detour will be posted using North 18th Street, Kohler Memorial Drive, and North 25th Street.
