BACOLOD CITY - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Negros Occidental has accepted the applications of 35,801 individuals since the start of the voter registration for the October 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections last Dec. 12. Provincial Election Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said Monday the voter sign-up is picking up slowly. However, he said based on the reports of election officers, there is a lower turnout now compared to the previous registration. "The registration of voters will end soon. It will be held until Jan. 31, 5 p.m. Those who have time to register, please go to the Office of the Election Officer," Ananoria said. Last week, 11,811 registrants were listed, which showed an increase of around 3,000 from the previous week. Meanwhile, City Election Officer Kathrina Trinio-Cana said satellite registration in the city will be held at the Robinsons Place Bacolod on Jan. 24 to 28 and Jan. 30 to 31.
