TAUNTON The Elisha Project, a Rhode Island-based non-profit that helps provide food for the needy, launched its monthly Blessing Boxes program Saturday, May 2 by donating 500 boxes of food to elderly Taunton Housing Authority residents throughout the city.
The event was organized by City Councilor John McCaul, with help from the Kiwanis Club, Taunton R.O.T.C., City Councilor Don Cleary, City Council Candidate Larry Quintal, many local pastors and church members and Elisha Project workers.
McCaul said the boxes were met with many hugs, thank yous and tears from recipients. He said the boxes helped residents feel blessed and cared for.
