Biking is a transportation method that has been repopularized by local residents amid COVID-19. This includes motorized scooters and e-bikes, which have increased in use.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a slew of life adjustments for everyone during the global shutdown. Among these changes is a repopularized hobby taken up by many Berkeley residents: biking.
The Bay Area as a whole is a hub of tech innovation, so it came as no surprise to residents that motorized scooters and e-bikes were the cool new way to get around. The meme of Bernie Sanders sitting slouched, masked, and wearing some large and cozy mittens while waiting for Joe Biden to be inaugurated on Wednesday spread fast and wide. And now there are some Bay Area editions.
The meme all began with photographer Brendan Smialowski s shot of Senator Sanders, sitting socially distanced at the inauguration ceremony thinking about what could have been.

UC Berkeley students and city officials universally expressed disgust and shock in the wake of a violent insurrection that took place when President Donald Trump’s supporters mobbed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.
As the U.S. Congress attempted to finalize the Electoral College’s results Wednesday, Trump spoke at a “Save America” march in Washington, D.C. During the rally, he urged Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the presidential election results, claimed fraud affected election results and told those at the rally to join him and “walk down Pennsylvania Avenue” to encourage Republican officials “to take back (the) country.”
