Candidates must live in the ward they are running for and nomination papers are available on Dec. 29
Nomination papers must be filed on Jan. 26, 2021. Due to COVID, signatures can be collected electronically. An image of the signature needs to be scanned in or a photo of the signature must be taken and emailed, according to Olson. It is unclear whether the electronic signature collection option will continue beyond this election.
The drawing for the ballot positions will take place on Feb. 11, 2021
Unless the entire City Council rejects the Programs and Services Committee vote, the special election will take place on March 16, 2021
