they did it by bullying legislators. they did it by bribing legislators. even offering to move the entire department of health and human services to any legislator s county who would vote to override my veto. they couldn t get the votes. so what they did was lied. they told democratic legislators and they told the media that there would not be votes at 8:30 this morning on 9/11, a day when americans should be standing in solidarity. they scheduled this vote and overrode the veto. and the people of north carolina lost today, teachers lost today, working north carolinans who don t have health insurance lost today and it is wrong. it is wrong. wrong it may be, is it illegal? i believe it is. i also believe that it is unethical. and the way they did it, these legislators are citizen
of career politicians going to washington and not getting the people s work done, citizen legislators. that s what this election was about. this is a person, i ve worked a hard life and started at the graveyard shift at denny s all the way to the briefing rooms at the pentagon and it was hard work and perseverance of me and other volunteers that we won this election. neil: and you won. katie arrington, an interesting race to watch. thank you very much. neil: we did call ms. arrington s democratic opponent joe cunningham and we haven t heard back. hope springs eternal. and eventually we get them here. we we re fair and balanced and we don t bite, and we just ask the fair questions. more in a minute.

the personal has had too much dominance in politics. that s for sure. it is a distraction of what matters most. if you get in and you re able to start fighting with what you see is the good fight. you say you re not a politician. you re about being a doctor. are you going to be someone, if you get in, will you pledge to serve for only one term or a specific time so you can get back to doing what you think really matters in your life or do you think once you re in there you re just like everybody else? no, i believe in term limits. i ve limited myself to two terms. two terms. while i serve my mission i will continue to practice medicine here in kansas as a volunteer and part time, of course. so that when i m finished i can practice medicine full time again. that s my calling. we need more citizen legislators rather than career politicians. i will work to have term limitss placed on the entire congress. i want congress to have to live by the same rules that they impose on the rest
good example of lower quality candidates, but i really have a hard time feeling sorry for him. the man is making a six-figure salary, he s going to get a great pension. the fact is politicians get attacked but also have power to rule over us. if they think they re somehow immune or should be protected from public criticism then they don t understand what a democracy is. he needs to develop a thick skin if he s going to make it in big-time politics. danny, is he just whining? well yes. i ll be honest with you. as someone who s been encouraged to run myself many times, the personal, the family issues really are something you have to take into consideration. it is a shame that running for public office and holding elective office is such an ordeal to the point where you don t have citizen legislators anymore, you have career politicians that are already used to this kind of fervor that takes place in the media. it s a shame we don t have folks that can come from their private li
