The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) of the Supreme Court of Nigeria has summoned the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Citadel Oracle Concept Limited, Benjamin Joseph, for hearing of a petition he filed against a police prosecutor at the Force Headquarters Abuja, Simon Lough, for alleged malicious prosecution and denial of justice.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Simon Asamber Lough was widely celebrated as having made history in December 2021 when he became the first police officer in Nigeria to be admitted to the Inner Bar as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). However, a document obtained by SaharaReporters shows that Lough was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on January 8, 1987, and should have retired from service on January 8, 2022, after 35 years of active service. This contradicts the claim made by the police that Lough was enlisted as a Cadet in 2000.
