Chewie, the North Bay and District Critical Incident Stress Team’s service dog, is connecting with people in new and exciting ways, says his handler, Gillian MacIntosh.

The four-year-old trauma support service dog is task-trained to provide pressure therapy to people in crisis. Chewie works with Victim Services of Nipissing District at the North Bay Police Service, normally spending his days with those who need him the most.
But the pandemic, social distancing and lockdown rules have changed how Chewie and MacIntosh go about their work.
