New Zealand’s biggest open-access arts festival, Fringe, opens this coming week in the capital. It will be a welcome reprieve for artists who have faced a year of unemployment and financial hardship due to Covid-19 forcing the cancellation of live performances through to major entertainment and sporting events. The festival which opens on Friday and runs for nearly a month, will host 470 individual presentations of 156 different arts events.
