i certainly think the president has the support of more than hundreds of thousands of people, we re talking millions. since ameshia brought up the e. jean carroll verdict, this was the day before the town hall in which the jury found the former president liable for sexual battery and defamation. so she had to ask about it. let s take a look at that. i have no idea who the hell she is. i don t know who this woman is. [applause] and i swear, and i ve never done that,s ask i swear to i have no idea who the hell she s a whack job. [laughter] prime minister, you did not testify howard: what do you do as a moderator when you re reciting the facts of that trial and the audience is cheering when he callses her a whack job? he has the right to defend himself. he s taken the position he didn t do it, and he wasn t convicted howard: right. it s a civil suit, it happened in the 90s, but if you re caitlin collins, again, it was kind of a circus atmosphere. well, it was. and, again,
that was not something when donald trump was accused of making statements that this was a politically motivated claim, and the judge wouldn t let us go into that. and, you know, it s there were plenty of issues for us to pursue. you were complimented by not only the judge but opposing counsel. how do you feel about that? i appreciate that. i appreciate they complimented me, but for me it s just about the results. and at the end of the day while, you know, it was strange, a part of me was obviously very happy that donald trump was not branded a rapist. i didn t think there should be any liability findings, so we ll pursue it. we ll pursue that. that s what i just said about the appeal, right? we re going to appeal it. but she claimed all along she d been raped by donald trump. that s what this case was all about. yeah, this was a circus atmosphere, and having him be
as a circus atmosphere you can hear behind me, there were protesters before and against this hearing today you saw a very heated exchange between republican and democratic members on the panel as well as witnesses that were called before this panel to tell their stories. i just want to show you one example that gives you a good idea of what this hearing was like today when congressman hank johnson was doing his part of the hearing. take a listen. like thugs they ve descended on new york city using violent crime as their pretext the maga republican extremists are not interested in gun violence or even knife violence. the republican witnesses who have used their time to criticize district attorney bragg have served as props in a maga broadway production the real purpose in coming to
backfire while he s been quick to threaten so many court fights, notice tonight he is the defendant. he is on the other side of this one. he may lose this one the d.a. arguing what the republicans are trying to do, subpoena a former line prosecutor to talk about an ongoing criminal prosecution is no less of an affront to sovereignty than subpoenaing the d.a. himself that s not just rhetoric let me tell you exactly why that matters. the d.a. bragg is employing the power and current legal authority of his office to protect a former employee, a veteran of the office, and it s a person he had disagreements about with. we can get to that but regardless of their disagreements about law or approaching cases, he is using his legal powers to protect that individual and any other employees saying, hey, going after them and like going after me, and you can t do that under the law in the middle of an open criminal case. not for a circus atmosphere, as he calls it. there s been a lot of talk abou
cameras in the courtroom so that they could actually televised the whole proceeding. and they claimed that was because it would be a circus atmosphere. they did it because they knew that that would make donald trump look really small and that it would put him in a very unfavorable light and would not make great footage for a campaign. commercial but the judge did allow the still photographer five pool still photographer said, which is why we have these photos of him, which i just think sometimes still photos or even more telling. i mean they captured these moments, and i just think that we don t often see this expression of him looking again in that sort of hunched posture . what the way i saw it having been, you know, around donald trump personally and in the same room several times is that this is when he didn t know what was in the indictment. this is when he didn t know what was coming. and you know, pundits have been saying there might be a surprise in there. we don t know what th
